The Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes per week for the El Paso Children's Hospital Athlete of the Week award. You, the readers, decide the winner.
Nominations are taken from the best performers from across the Las Cruces area during the previous week's athletic contests. This week, there are 10 track and field, baseball and softball nominees from Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain, Centennial and Gadsden during events from April 27 to May 2.
Last week's winner was Organ Mountain softball's Natalie Menchaca, who tallied 11 RBIs on eight hits across a three-game sweep of Centennial to earn the honor.

Dallas Bencomo, Mayfield softball
Bencomo recorded four RBIs in a 16-12 victory over Organ Mountain.
Ausaundra Roberto, Mayfield softball
Roberto had a pivotal RBI single in the seventh inning to help the Trojans defeat Organ Mountain 6-5 and clinch their first district title in over a decade.
Krista Barela, Las Cruces softball
Barela tallied four RBIs in an 11-8 win over Centennial.
Kendra Martinez, Centennial softball
Martinez registered three RBIs in an 11-8 defeat in Las Cruces and four RBIs in a 12-10 victory over the Bulldawgs.
Brennan McNiece, Organ Mountain baseball
McNiece struck out nine batters and allowed only three earned runs in a 4-3 win over Mayfield.
