Welcome to the Herald-Times Athlete of the Week poll for April 13-18 presented by IU Health.

Congratulations to last week's winner, Eastern Greene baseball player Chaz Perry, who received 52% of the vote (5,009) to top Bloomington South track athlete Adriene Shaevitz (24.4%).

Now it's time for readers and fans to get behind a new set of athletes this week, by voting as much as you like until the poll closes at noon on Thursday, April 23. Here are the nominees:

Athlete of the Week

Addy Applegate, Owen Valley softball

Junior outfielder provided a burst of power as the Patriots went 2-2 last week, going 5-for-13 with two homers, a double, a triple, four runs scored and five RBIs against White River Valley, Linton, Brown County and South Putnam.

Luke Arnett, South baseball

Had a monster week at the plate, starting with a 4-for-4, six-RBI game in a 21-4 romp over Bedford North Lawrence. In three games, went 7-for-10 with two homers, two doubles, two walks, eight RBIs, seven runs scored, two walks and a stolen base.

Nolan Arthur, Edgewood baseball

Senior infielder provided some offensive spark in a pair of low-scoring losses to Terre Haute North (4-1) and Bedford North Lawrence (3-2), going 3-for-5 with a walk, stolen base and a run scored.

Ellie Barada, South girls track

Competed against the state's best milers at the Franklin Central Showcase, posting a 4:49.48, finishing second to Concordia's Mallory Weller (4:42.69). It translates to a 4:47.8 for the 1,600.

Ally Bland, Edgewood softball

Senior (7-1) picked up her 50th and 51st career wins last week against Bedford North Lawrence and Columbus North, pitching 14 innings and giving up 10 hits, two runs and walking three while striking out 24. At the plate, went 3-for-7.

Lindsey Blanton, South softball

Senior catcher leads the Panthers in batting at .467. Had three hits and scored a couple runs with a walk and a stolen base in a pair of conference games. Recorded 10 putouts and has not committed an error this season.

London Brinkerhoff, Seven Oaks boys track

Sophomore broke both school hurdles records last week at the Eastern Greene Invite, taking second in the 110s with an 18.34 and third in the 300s with a 46.50.

Ryan Decker, North boys golf

The freshman has been solid in his first three events of the season, with team-low scores of 79, 74, and 74 for top-five finishes in each. He also carded his first hole-in-one on Cascades' par-3 No. 6 hole in a meet against South and Edgewood.

Carla Demeter, South girls tennis

Junior at 1 singles picked up a couple wins, 6-1, 6-3 against Terre Haute North and then outlasting Silver Creek's Adriene Bailey, 6-1, 1-6, 6-0.

Luke Freel, North baseball

Helped lead the Cougars to a 4-0 week, including a pair of conference wins. Went 9-of-15 at the plate with seven RBIs, three doubles, four stolen bases and four runs scored. Got the win against Terre Haute South, going four innings, giving up nine hits and six runs (four earned) with three walks and three strikeouts.

Noah Gallagher, Edgewood boys track

Ran a 4:36.43 for sixth place to lead the area's qualifiers in the freshman boys mile race at the Franklin Central Showcase.

Brogan Hanna, North baseball

Tossed an important complete game in a 5-1 win over Columbus North, giving up just four hits and one run (first inning solo homer) while walking just one and striking out 10.

Xavier Hemingway, South baseball

Starting pitcher went five innings in a 9-7 win over Jeffersonville, giving up just two hits, one run and no walks while fanning seven.

Ella LaRoche, Edgewood girls track

Junior broke Ashley Abram's school record in girls pole vault (10-6) with a winning effort of 10-9 in a meet at Mooresville.

Lily McDaniel, Seven Oaks girls track

Freshman took first in the 200 meters at the Eastern Greene Invite last week with a 29.30, setting a personal record. McDaniel also took fourth in the 400 with a 1:12.22.

Ella Sproul, Edgewood softball

Went a combined 4-for-7 with a homer, double, three runs scored and five RBIs in wins over BNL and Columbus North.

Gabe Taylor, South boys track

Senior broke the school record in the 100 meter dash with a 10.77 that takes out the mark of 10.78 set by Earnie Morris in 2009.
