Griswold’s Broden Pasieka has been voted The Bulletin athlete of the week for April 6-11.
The Wolverines senior shot a 40 to earn medalist honors and lead Griswold to a 5-2 season-opening victory over Montville at the Norwich Golf Course.
Last week saw plenty of standout performances in baseball and softball across Eastern Connecticut. While there's no shortage of talent, we went and found the best of the best.

The Wildcats junior pitcher struck out 14 and allowed just three hits in a complete game performance as NFA topped Waterford, 12-0. It was the Wildcats’ third straight ECC Division 1 softball win.
The Wildcats senior outfielder helped NFA win three straight ECC Division 1 softball contests. Driscoll smacked a two-run homer in a 12-0 victory over Waterford; she went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in an 8-5 win over Fitch; and she added two RBIs in an 8-4 win over East Lyme.
The Wildcats junior allowed just three hits and struck out eight over 6⅔ innings to lift NFA past Fitch, 1-0, in Groton. Holmberg also had two hits, including a two-run homer, in a 4-3 baseball victory against Enfield.
The Warriors junior hurler took a perfect game into the bottom of the fifth inning against Griswold en route to a 13-0 non-league softball victory. Stimson struck out eight, allowed just two hits and walked none.
Stimson also hit a grand slam in Norwich Tech’s 23-3 win over Wilcox Tech. Stimson struck out six to earn the pitching win.
The Trailblazers senior struck out four and allowed only two earned runs as Killingly rolled to its fifth consecutive win with a 12-2 victory over Woodstock Academy. Veillette was also one of three Trailblazers to hit home runs in the game.
