The OSAA spring sports season is marching on and Salem-area girls athletes across softball, track and field, golf and tennis are regularly putting in impressive performances.

Every week, you get to vote for the Statesman Journal’s Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Maps Credit Union.

Here are the nominees for this week’s girls Athlete of the Week.

Amelia Keel, Sprague softball
Avery Meier, West Salem track and field
Lily Olivares, Delphian track and field

Athlete of the Week

Amelia Keel, Sprague softball

Keel, a freshman, pitched four innings and struck out seven batters and also registered a hit and two RBIs April 16 in the Olympians' 6-3 win over South Salem.

Avery Meier, West Salem track and field

Meier, a senior, won the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 47.81 seconds April 15 in a dual meet against South Salem. Meier's time is the eighth best in Class 6A this season.

West Salem's Avery Meier finishes in second place with a time of 18:18.68 in the CVC Cross Country District Championships at Ash Creek Preserve on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, in Monmouth, Ore.

Lily Olivares, Delphian track and field

Olivares, a sophomore, ran a 13.01 100 and a 27.12 200 for a pair of wins April 16 in a league meet at Kennedy. Both times are among the top four in Class 2A this spring.

Jersee Sutton, Silverton softball

Sutton, a junior, registered two hits, two runs and one RBI April 15 in the Foxes' 7-6 win over West Albany.

Ashaley Trine, Dallas softball

Trine, a sophomore, posted two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs April 15 in the Dragons' 17-1 three-inning win over Corvallis.

Bella Vargas, Blanchet Catholic track and field

Vargas, a sophomore, jumped 17 feet, 11 inches in the long jump and 33-11 1/2 in the triple jump April 16 for wins in a league meet at Willamina. Both tallies are top-four marks in Class 3A this season.

Lila Wolf, St. Paul softball

Wolf, a junior, recorded four hits, three runs and three RBIs in four at-bats April 16 in the Buckaroos' 19-15 win over Rainier.
