It was a bit of a rollercoaster during the offseason for the Arizona Diamondbacks fans. They weren't sure if they would start the season with Ketel Marte on their roster or if he would be traded during the winter.
He was a big part of the team's success over the years, and luckily for the fanbase, the front office decided to keep him, at least for the start of the season. They could certainly change their minds if they slip down the standings as we get closer to the trade deadline.
They doubled down by bringing in Nolan Arenado to man third base. They have gotten off to a solid 17-17 start, but that record could be much better.

Alongside Marte, Geraldo Perdomo also had a fantastic season last year. He hit .290/.389/.462 with a career-high 20 home runs while being six shy of his career-high with 28.
That's 48 home runs combined between the two middle infielders, who are off to a much slower start this year. ESPN's Bradford Doolittle puts the pressure on the duo to find their groove again.
"Last year's Diamondbacks featured a high-throttle offense... A big reason for that was the elite offensive production from Arizona's middle infield combo of Ketel Marte and Geraldo Perdomo, who combined to hit .283/.383/.487 with 48 homers. So far this season, both are off to slow starts, with a .232/.313/.388 combined slash line and seven homers. Not surprisingly, after ranking sixth in runs last season, Arizona has slipped to 13th in 2026. Ildemaro Vargas can't do it all."
Now, if Marte and Perdomo can get it going, that would be great. Arizona needs someone else to step up offensively, other than Vargas, who leads the club in batting average, home runs, runs batted in, OBP, and hits.
