The Golden State Warriors were hoping to end the 2026 NBA Draft lottery with a top-4 draft pick.
Thereâs no question that a higher selection could be useful in a potential blockbuster trade for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer.
However, the Dubs wound up with the No. 11 pick, but according to ClutchPointsâ Brett Siegel, the seven-time NBA champions are still expected to extend an offer to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo that they canât refuse.
âGolden State cannot afford to take a chance with this draft pick, and the organization will not go through another two-timeline plan approach that blew up in their face with James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga,â Siege reported Monday. âIf he is available here, Lendeborg is the obvious choice.â

âStill, pursuing a trade for a big-name star remains extremely relevant for owner Joe Lacob and the Warriors, and there have been no shortage of talks regarding Giannis and the Warriors among rival teams.â
âMany fully expect Lacob and his front office to package this No. 11 pick with other future assets to try and convince the Bucks to trade them Antetokounmpo.â
Essentially, Siegel believes the Golden State will do its best to entice Milwaukee with the No. 11 pick and several additional pieces in the offseason. With Kuminga and Buddy Hield out of the fold (they were both traded midseason), their best hope would be to part ways with Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green to get the Bucks to engage in trade talks centered on Antetokounmpo.
Considering both players are over 35 and noticeably past their primes, there should be little to no hesitation in featuring them in a deal for the best player on the trade market.
Antetokounmpo, an NBA champion and two-time MVP, averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game with the 32-50 Bucks this season. Although Antetokounmpoâs perimeter shooting would raise questions about his fit with the three-point centric Dubs, the former first-round pick would provide the franchise with one of the most (if not the most) efficient transition/downhill scorers theyâve ever had in the Steve Kerr era.
The Antetokounmpo sweepstakes wonât be a cake walk for the Warriors, but they have the assets necessary to put the best foot forward from a trade offer vantage point.
