The Golden State Warriors are projected to select Tennessee freshman Nate Ament with the 11th overall pick in a new mock draft by Bleacher Report. Ament is noted for his potential as a versatile scorer despite some concerns about his physicality.
With the Golden State Warriors recently winning the NBA draft lottery and selecting AJ Dybantsa from BYU with the No. 1 overall pick in a recent mock draft from Bleacher Report, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report went a different direction in a new edition of his mock draft. This time, the Miami Heat won the lottery and drafted Dybantsa at the No. 1 slot. With the Heat getting the No. 1 pick, the Warriors shifted back to their projected pick at No. 11 overall.
With the Warriors back to drafting at No. 11, Wasserman paired Tennessee standout freshman Nate Ament with Golden State. According to Wasserman, Ament has the potential and size to be a "mismatch and three-level scorer" despite some question marks.
Via Bleacher Report:
Nate Ament had a mixed postseason, highlighted by flashes of shot-making and creativity, but also by issues converting drives and struggles against physical defense.
There will always be demand and patience when it comes to 6'10" wings with shoot-dribble-pass skill sets. Ament has at least 19 made field goals in ball-screen, isolation, spot-up and movement off-screen situations. He's getting to the line at a strong rate, yet he isn't a black hole, averaging 2.3 assists.
The case against Ament questions whether the shooting will be good enough to offset projected issues around a lack of explosion and strength for turning the corner and finishing.
The case for him shows a mismatch and a three-level scorer who can get his shot off cleanly at will, thanks to his positional height and release point.
Nate Ament is a freshman standout from Tennessee, recognized for his size and scoring ability, making him a promising candidate in the upcoming NBA draft.
Ament faces concerns regarding his shooting consistency and physicality, particularly in finishing against stronger defenders.
The Golden State Warriors are projected to draft Nate Ament with the 11th overall pick in the latest Bleacher Report mock draft.
