Washington County high school athletes are nominated for athlete of the week, with 48 nominees across boys and girls sports. Voting is open until Thursday at noon.
Nominees have been selected based on statistics provided by county coaches for events played from April 13-18.
There are 23 boys and 25 girls in the running this week. Voting will remain open until Thursday at noon.
Boys
Wyatt Albowicz, Clear Spring tennis -- Albowicz won first doubles matches against Smithsburg, Brunswick and Catoctin.
Daniel Apiou, Clear Spring track & field -- Apiou won the 110 hurdles (15.37), high jump (6-5) and triple jump (45-8 1/2) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet.
Josiah Britner, Heritage baseball -- Britner had a hit and two walks and struck out 16 over 6 2/3 innings in a win over Carroll Christian, and had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored in a win over Calvary.
Landon Call, North Hagerstown track & field -- Call won the 1,600 (4:30.33) and placed second in the 800 (2:00.94) during the Chuck Zonis Invitational at North.
Gabe Cassesa, North Hagerstown tennis -- Cassesa won first doubles matches against Linganore, South Hagerstown and Tuscarora.
Jackson Coulter, North Hagerstown baseball -- Coulter had two hits and four RBIs in a win over Tuscarora and had a hit, a walk and two RBIs in a win over Urbana.
Blake Crampton, Clear Spring tennis -- Crampton won first doubles matches against Smithsburg, Brunswick and Catoctin.
Evan Darr, North Hagerstown tennis -- Darr won first doubles matches against Linganore, South Hagerstown and Tuscarora.
Austin Dinsmore, Boonsboro track & field -- Dinsmore won the discus (131-2) and finished second in the shot put (40-8) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet.
Antonio Dominguez, Broadfording baseball -- Dominguez homered twice, walked, had six RBIs and scored four times in a win over CVCS and had three hits in a loss to Allegany.
Brady Ernst, Clear Spring tennis -- Ernst won first singles matches against Smithsburg, Brunswick and Catoctin.
Darian Gaskins, Boonsboro baseball -- Gaskins had three hits, including a double and a homer, seven RBIs and two runs scored in a win over Catoctin, had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs while striking out nine over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to Frederick and had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs in a win over Jefferson.
Zach Linn, Smithsburg lacrosse -- Linn had four goals and two assists in a win over Brunswick.
Jay McConnaughey, Clear Spring baseball -- McConnaughey homered twice, doubled, walked, had three RBIs and three runs scored in a loss to Smithsburg, had two hits, including a double, a walk and three runs scored in a win over Catoctin and tripled in a win over Spring Mills.
James Mirembe, Saint James track & field -- Mirembe won the 800 (1:55.31) and 1,600 (4:23.15) during the Sam Singleton Scorpion Classic at Oakland Mills.
Girls
McKinsey Baker, North Hagerstown softball -- Baker went 4-for-4 with two doubles and scored three runs in a win over Tuscarora.
Lena Cassesa, North Hagerstown tennis -- Cassesa won first doubles matches against Linganore, South Hagerstown and Tuscarora.
Anna Chamberlin, North Hagerstown track & field -- Chamberlin won the 100 hurdles (16.31) and was second in the 300 hurdles (49.83) and high jump (4-9) during the Chuck Zonis Invitational at North.
Mackenzie Cullen, Boonsboro softball -- Cullen had two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs in a win over Catoctin, had two hits, including a double, a walk and three RBIs in a win over Frederick and went 3-for-3 with five RBIs in a win over Smithsburg.
Kaisy Custer, Clear Spring tennis -- Custer won first doubles matches against Smithsburg, Frederick and Catoctin.
Kamryn Dillow, Boonsboro softball -- Dillow went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored three runs in a win over Frederick and went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, three runs scored and two steals in a win over Smithsburg.
Hadley Elwood, Clear Spring track & field -- Elwood won the high jump (5 feet) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet.
Kayde Gaither, Hancock softball -- Gaither doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice in a win over Turkeyfoot Valley and had three hits, including two doubles, and scored twice in a win over Southern Fulton.
Chloe Gietka, South Hagerstown track & field -- Gietka won the long jump (17-0 1/2) and the triple jump (35-8) and ran on the winning 4x100 relay (50.26) and 4x200 relay (1:46.22) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet, and placed third in the long jump (17-1 1/2) and triple jump (33-11 1/2) during the Trojan Invitational at Gaithersburg.
Ellie Harrell, Boonsboro softball -- Harrell hit two homers and drove in three runs in a win over Frederick and had two hits, including a double, and scored twice in a win over Smithsburg.
Halie Hughes, North Hagerstown softball -- Hughes doubled and walked in a loss to Linganore, had two hits in a loss to South Hagerstown and went 4-for-4 with a double, a homer, seven RBIs and four runs scored in a win over Tuscarora.
Sophie Lesher, Clear Spring tennis -- Lesher won first doubles matches against Smithsburg, Frederick and Catoctin.
Lauren Ly, North Hagerstown tennis -- Ly won first doubles matches against Linganore, South Hagerstown and Tuscarora.
Binta Macalou, North Hagerstown track & field -- Macalou won the long jump (15-1 1/2) and was third in the triple jump (31-1 1/2) during the Chuck Zonis Invitational at North.

Torin Sitter, South Hagerstown track & field -- Sitter won the 200 (22.38), was third in the 100 (11.28) and ran on the winning 4x100 relay (43.57) and 4x200 relay (1:30.71) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet.
Jaxon Teson, Smithsburg baseball -- Teson had three hits, including two homers, drove in three runs and scored three runs in a win over Clear Spring and doubled, homered and drove in three runs in a loss to Linganore.
Drake Weaver, Clear Spring baseball -- Weaver homered twice, including a grand slam, walked and had six RBIs in a loss to Smithsburg, had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs in a win over Catoctin and went 3-for-3 in a win over Spring Mills.
Micah Wilson, Heritage baseball -- Wilson homered, walked and drove in three runs in a win over Carroll Christian and had three hits, including a triple and a homer, drove in six runs and scored twice in a win over Calvary.

Taraji Nartey, North Hagerstown track & field -- Nartey won the 400 (1:01.69), placed third in the 200 (27.53) and ran on the winning distance medley relay (12:47.26) during the Chuck Zonis Invitational at North.
Mackenzie Philp, North Hagerstown track & field -- Philp won the 1,600 (5:18.78) and ran on the winning distance medley relay (12:47.26) during the Chuck Zonis Invitational at North.
Trinity Savage, South Hagerstown track & field -- Savage won the 200 (26.18) and ran on the winning 4x100 relay (50.26) and 4x200 relay (1:46.22) during the Brunswick Hump Day Meet, and won the long jump (18 feet) during the Trojan Invitational at Gaithersburg.
Lily Schlotterbeck, Saint James softball -- Schlotterbeck struck out all six batters she faced in a win over MSD and had three hits while striking out 10 in a complete-game victory over Mercersburg.
Everett Sechler, Saint James softball -- Sechler had three hits, including a triple, seven RBIs and two runs scored in a win over MSD and had two hits, including a double, and scored twice in a win over Mercersburg.
Emmalyn Thomas, Boonsboro lacrosse -- Thomas scored three goals in a win over Saint James.
Sidney Turner, Boonsboro track & field -- Turner won the discus (124-10) and was second in the shot put (34-3 1/4) during the Talley Zimmerman Invitational at Walkersville.
Addison Tyler, Boonsboro softball -- Tyler had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and pitched a five-hit shutout with two walks and seven strikeouts against Catoctin, and had four hits, including two doubles and a homer, five RBIs and three runs scored while striking out six over three hitless innings in a win over Frederick.
