Washington football is pursuing three-star California QB Caden Jones despite already having a four-star QB committed for 2027. Jones, ranked as the No. 36 quarterback nationally, has been a priority target for the Huskies and holds a dual-sport offer from the university.
Even though the Washington Huskies already have one of the nation's top quarterbacks committed in the 2027 class in four-star Blake Roskopf, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff is still keeping tabs on another target.
On Friday, quarterbacks coach JP Losman spent the day on an in-school visit with three-star signal caller Caden Jones from Crean Lutheran High School. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect, who is ranked as the nation's No. 36 quarterback and No. 44 player in California by 247Sports, has long been a priority target for the Huskies, and made his top seven in March alongside Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina, and UCLA as he cut down his list of 39 offers.
Now, even with Roskopf committed, the Huskies have still shown plenty of interest in Jones, who took an unofficial visit to UW in April to take in a spring practice alongside his teammates, four-star wide receiver Ty Johnson and three-star cornerback Evan Mack, all three of whom were expected to visit for Junior Day in March but were unable to make the trip.
Jones holds a rare dual-sport offer from UW, as basketball coach Danny Sprinkle has also shown interest in obtaining his services, and as his recruitment continues, Washington's continued interest could be a sign that Fisch and Losman are bracing for some turnover in the quarterback room.
Behind Demond Williams Jr., the Huskies also have Elijah Brown, Treston Kini McMillan, Dash Beierly, and Derek Zammit in the room, all of whom have multiple years of eligibility remaining. If one or more decide to hit the transfer portal at the end of the 2026 season, having two quarterbacks pledged in the 2027 class could help reload the depth at the position quickly.
Jones specifically would be an intriguing fit in that category. He shows off high-level athleticism on film and has the speed and arm talent to run all the bootlegs that Fisch likes to call to keep defenses off balance by getting him outside the pocket and allowing him to be a dual threat, much like Williams displayed throughout the 2025 season.
