Washington Huskies are targeting four-star WR Dontay Tyson for their 2027 recruiting class. Tyson, ranked No. 323 overall, is set to visit Washington on May 29 after previously visiting in March.
The Washington Huskies are building a high-end 2027 recruiting class, and with four-star wide receivers Braylon Pope and Zerek Sidney already committed, Jedd Fisch and his coaching staff are looking to add another talented pass catcher.
Among the prospects high on the board for position coach Kevin Cummings is four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson, a product of Peoria High School in Arizona. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect, who is ranked as the No. 323 overall recruit and No. 41 wide receiver in the 2027 class, has been one of UW's top priorities for a while, and the Huskies have put themselves firmly in the mix for his services.
After releasing a top eight of Arizona, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC in December, two favorites have emerged. The Huskies are set to host him on an official visit on May 29, his second trip to Seattle in three months following an unofficial trip for Junior Day in early March, while he'll also take a trip to visit coach Mike Elko and the Aggies on June 12.
While he was limited to just seven games during his junior year, Tyson was still able to put together 37 catches for 448 yards and 7 touchdowns, while showcasing the college-ready frame and athleticism the Huskies have coveted at the position.
"Tyson has a strong frame and is built like a college receiver right now," former 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote in his evaluation.
"He has good speed and can get deep and stretch the field. He really excels on go routes and wide receiver screens and has home run hitting ability. He’s strong in the air with excellent body control and routinely wins 50-50 jump balls. He uses his body well to shield smaller defensive backs and is tough to bring down in the open field. He has strong hands as well and catches the ball through contact. We would like to see him continue to develop as a route runner, but all the traits are there for Tyson to be an early impact player in college."
Washington has put itself in the mix for several coveted receivers in the 2027 class alongside Tyson, as the Huskies have also set an official visit with four-star Tre Moore for June 19, and have been pushing to lock in an official trip with top-50 prospect Osani Gayles.
Dontay Tyson recorded 37 catches for 448 yards and 7 touchdowns during his junior year.
Dontay Tyson has a top eight that includes Arizona, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and Washington.
Dontay Tyson is scheduled for an official visit to Washington on May 29.
