The Washington Huskies are among the top six contenders for five-star edge rusher Jalanie George, a highly ranked player in the 2028 class. George recently visited Seattle and was impressed by the program's culture and coaching staff.
The Washington Huskies have established themselves among the top suitors for one of the nation's elite players in the 2028 class.
On Friday afternoon, five-star edge rusher Jalanie George, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound product of Desert Edge High School in Arizona, who is ranked as the No. 6 player in the nation and No. 2 edge rusher by the 247Sports Composite, trimmed his list of 33 offers down to six, including the Huskies alongside Auburn, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.
George took an unofficial visit to Seattle in early March for Washington's Junior Day and came away impressed as Jedd Fisch's coaching staff sold him on the culture and vision it has been building over the last few years since its arrival and the move to the Big Ten.
"It was my first time up there, and I didn't really have a lot of expectations going in there, but once I got there and met with the coaches, I can see why it's such a great program to be part of with the culture there and all of the things they have to offer," George told Dawgman.com's Scott Eklund after his trip.
Now, defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi and the Huskies are looking to continue to impress the coveted pass rusher, who displays all the necessary traits of an early impact player up front.
"Productive front-line defender with a promising frame," 247Sports' Andrew Ivins wrote in his evaluation. "Instinctive against the run and will slide off blocks to make stops...Still developing pass-rush cadence, but can hound QBs with length and burst...Not one to bail on a play and will clean up the trash."
As the coaching staff attempts to build a pipeline in Arizona, it has done an impressive job developing a relationship with George and several other high-end prospects in the state, and UW is expecting to host him for an unofficial visit in the fall to take in the atmosphere on a game day.
