The Washington Huskies have made a concerted effort to establish a pipeline with one of the top high school programs in Arizona, Desert Edge High School.
On Wednesday, secondary coach John Richardson made his way to the Grand Canyon State to extend an offer to four-star cornerback Nekhi Lambeth, one of the nation's top defensive back prospects in the 2028 class.
The 6-foot, 175-pound Lambeth is ranked as the nation's No. 77 overall recruit and No. 8 cornerback by 247Sports, as well as the No. 5 player in the state, as Washington became the 27th scholarship offer he's accrued. Georgia, Indiana, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and USC are also among the schools in the mix for his services as the Huskies continue to push for a specific archetype of cornerback on the recruiting trail.
During his sophomore year, Lambeth recorded 18 tackles, 1 for loss, with 2 interceptions and 3 pass breakups as he showed all the traits of a future reliable outside cornerback at the college level.
If there was one word to describe Lambeth's tape, it's sticky. He's physical at the line of scrimmage and is good at flipping his hips to run with receivers down the field, but more than anything, he has the athleticism to attach himself to an opposing pass catcher's hip and not let them achieve separation, no matter the route, which should continue to make him a sought-after prospect as his recruitment rolls on.
The Huskies currently hold two commits in the 2027 class from Desert Edge: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, and are on the hunt for several more prospects from the school, including five-star 2028 edge rusher Jalanie George.
