Fresh off the end of spring practice, the Washington Huskies coaching staff has hit the recruiting trail and begun to dol out more offers to some of the top prospects in the 2028 recruiting class.
One of the handful that went out Monday evening was to three-star Simi Valley High School cornerback Micah Hannah, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound sophomore who already held 15 scholarship offers coming into this week when more coaches are out evaluating and visiting high schools.
The son of former USC wide receiver and Houston Oilers fourth round pick in the 1993 NFL draft, Travis Hannah, the younger Hannah has found his path on the defensive side of the ball as an outside cornerback. His first offer from, ironically, Arizona back in November 2024 started a slow trickle of offers to come over the next year, which included Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Florida, North Carolina, among other notable Power Four schools.
Hannah is the fourth cornerback from the state of California in the 2028 cycle to land an offer from UW secondary coach John Richardson and the fifth overall player at the position to receive an offer, based on 247Sports' database, which is a strong indication of how highly the staff covets him in next year's class.
On tape, the younger Hannah displays similar speed to that of his father, a state championship track runner in the 400-meter and 4x400-relay team at Hawthorn High School in California, and should likely add a little more weight to his frame to continue progressing as a Big Ten-caliber cornerback.
During his first two seasons at Simi Valley, about 40 minutes outside of Los Angeles, the rising 2028 prospect posted 77 total tackles, 19 passes defended, 4 interceptionsāthree alone as a sophomore this past fallāa tackle for loss and a fumble recovery in 20 combined games.
Although he was limited to just six games last season, Hannah made the most of his time on the field and turned some of the 16 pass breakups he had as a freshman into two more interceptions than he had his first season at Simi Valley, a promising sign for what is still to come with two seasons left before he embarks on his college career.
UW does not yet hold any verbal commitments in the 2028 class, and holds only 13 for the 2027 cycle set to sign in December. Getting an early start on finding a young replacement for when current sophomore cornerback Dylan Robinson declares for the NFL draft is never an early thing, as Richardson has shown over the years.
