The Washington Nationals' offense caught fire again with Luis Garcia Jr leading the way, downing the Atlanta Braves, 11-4, for the third home win of the season.
The Nationals drew 12 walks in the win, tied for the second-most in franchise history and most since Sept. 15, 2018.
Foster Griffin became just the second Nationals pitcher to last six innings in a start, joining Cade Cavalli who did so against the Philadelphia Phillies back on April 1. Griffin allowed three earned runs and five hits while tossing three strikeouts, exiting the game one batter after manager Blake Butera met him on the mound with runners on base.
With the win, Griffin becomes the third pitcher in franchise history to win at least three of his first five starts without suffering a loss, joining Luis Atilano in 2010 and Micah Bowie in 2017.
James Wood also reached base on all five of his at bats, drawing a season high four walks in the win.
Luis Garcia Jr. would lead the way after nearly accounting for half of the team's hits, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
After a three up, three down inning from Griffin to start the game, the Nationals lineup got its first five batters on base to build an early 3-0 lead, sparked by Wood's first walk of the day. After Luis Garcia Jr. singled into right, then stole second, a blooper into center by added the first run before walked, then Nasim Nunez added an RBI single.

Atlanta would answer back with a two out RBI double in the top of the second inning, but the Nationals would take the run right back after James Wood blasted his second home run of the week with a 412 foot shot into left field.
Griffin then allowed a pair of solo home runs, first in the third then the fifth inning, as the Braves cut the lead to 4-3 before Luis Garcia's hot bat added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Washington would pad its lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Garcia's double drove in his second and third RBIs on the day before Jacob Young's grounder to second brought in James Wood, pushing the Nationals ahead 8-3.
With Cionel Perez on the mound in the eighth inning, Atlanta added a pair of runners in scoring position before Perez got out of the jam on two grounders.
