Washington Nationals top Twins 15-2 Wednesday night

It turned out to be a beautiful day in the nation's capital as the rain clouds disappeared and the Washington Nationals found themselves a strong offensive win against the Minnesota Twins in a 15-2.

Despite the Twins striking first, the night belonged to the Nationals.

After three silent innings, James Wood was the Nationals first base runner of the night after leading off the bottom of the fourth inning before stealing second. Curtis Mead also earned himself a walk to put two runners in scoring position for the Nats.

But it was CJ Abrams' double to center that allowed Wood to tie the game, 1-1. However, the Nationals weren’t able to bring all the base runners home after a flyout by José Tena to center stranded Mead on third and Abrams on second to close out the fourth inning.

The Twins regained control after Matt Wallner’s solo home run in the fifth inning but that would be the last lead that the away team would have the remainder of the night.

The Nationals wasted no time responding to the constant lead changes as they continued to put one run after another diminishing any chance for the Twins to secure a win.

It only took Drew Millas one pitch before he drilled the 86 mph four-seam fastball 398 feet to center for a two run homerun to put the Nationals up 3-2 over the Twins in the bottom of the fifth. For Millas, this was his first homerun of the year.

Abrams doubled to right to lead off the sixth inning followed by and his double to left to give Abrams the run for Nationals to be up 4-2 with no outs.
