On Monday, the Washington Huskies earned a commitment from one of their top targets along the offensive line in the 2027 class: three-star center Reis Russell.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound product of Valor Christian High School in Colorado had his choice of practically anywhere in the country, as he holds 35 offers, and chose the Huskies over a group of finalists that included Georgia, where he took an official visit in mid-April, Florida, Miami, Oregon, and USC.
āI went around, I visited a lot of other places, and I had a great time there,ā Russell told Carlos Bryant of Denver Sports Media. āTheyāre all fabulous options as well. But I feel like deep down in my heart, I just knew. I always knew it was home.ā
The Huskies have made Russell a top priority for a long time, as offensive line coach Michael Switzer has developed a deep-rooted relationship with him since his first trip to Seattle, which came during Junior Day for the 2026 class. Since then, he's become a staple on campus, taking unofficial visits for a handful of games during the 2025 season.
āOn that first visit, I sat down with him, and we talked for a long time,ā Russell added. āI felt like Iād known him for ten years after that conversation.ā
Since it arrived on Montlake, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff has done an impressive job of building relationships with prospects on the recruiting trail, and the bond built between UW and Russell got so strong that he couldn't hold in his announcement any longer.
āI was supposed to wait,ā he said. āBut then I decided Sunday. I was like, I was going to do it Tuesday. Then I waited like an hour, and I was like, guys, I canāt do this anymore. Iāve got to call him and make it official.ā
Now, Russell has become the 13th commit, and first along the offensive line in Fisch's 2027 class, which is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation by 247Sports.
