Alexis DeBoer of the Washington Huskies earned two All-Big Ten honors, including First Team and All-Defense Team selections. She had an impressive season, leading her team with 18 home runs and a .359 batting average.
Following a stellar sophomore campaign with the Washington Huskies, star Alexis DeBoer was the recipient of several Big Ten honors on Friday morning.
DeBoer, who was named a Preseason Second Team All-American after coming off a debut season in which she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, more than lived up to the hype. Not only was Washington's star first baseman, who started every game, named to the All-Big Ten First Team, but she also found herself on the conference's All-Defense Team.
As the centerpiece of coach Heather Tarr's lineup, almost exclusively hitting out of the No. 2 spot, DeBoer led the Huskies with her 18 home runs (tied for No. 10 in the Big Ten), 45 runs scored, 1.221 OPS, and 36 walks.
DeBoer also ranked inside the top five on the Huskies in practically every offensive category with her .359 batting average, 122 total bases, 60 hits, and 51 runs batted in.
Defensively, she was a rock-solid target at first base as the Huskies finished No. 4 in the conference with a .997 fielding percentage. On a team-high 336 chances, she committed just one error, good for a .997 fielding percentage with 326 putouts and 9 assists with 11 double plays turned.
Now, as the Huskies await their destination for the NCAA Tournament, Tarr has several high-end players to lean on in the postseason, with DeBoer being one of five Huskies who received all-conference honors on Monday.
