Washington softball swept by No. 7 UCLA after 9-1 loss on Sunday

The Washington Huskies have played six straight games against ranked opponents and lost all six following a 9-1 defeat in five innings at the hands of the No. 7 UCLA Bruins on Sunday afternoon.

It was the same story on a different day for the Huskies' pitching staff, which couldn't contain the Big Ten's best offense. They only needed 6 hits to invoke the run-rule, a pair of which came from left fielder Rylee Slimp, who went 2-for-3 with a walk, 4 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored behind an RBI double in the fourth inning and a three-run home run in the fifth.

However, unlike the first two games of the series, where the Bruins bashed four home runs in each game, Slimp's long ball was the only one of the contest. Center fielder Jolyna Lamar also went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI and a pair of runs scored as the UW pitching staff surrendered 9 walks on the day.

Sophomore Morgan Reimer took the loss on the day and dropped to 22-5 on the year after working 4 innings and letting up 6 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits and 7 walks with 4 strikeouts.

On the other side, Taylor Tinsley tossed her second complete game of the series, allowing a run on 5 hits with a walk and 7 strikeouts.

With the loss, the Huskies fell to 34-15 on the year and 15-6 in Big Ten play. Next, they'll head to Ohio State for a three-game series with the Buckeyes to close out the regular season beginning on Friday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. PT.
