Washington women's basketball has added former five-star forward Kaelyn Carroll from Kentucky, marking their fourth transfer this offseason. Carroll, a 6-foot-3 wing, averaged 3.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in her freshman season.
The Washington Huskies women's basketball program added its fourth transfer addition of the offseason Saturday with former Kentucky freshman Kaelyn Carroll announcing her move from Lexington to Seattle.
Carroll, a 6-foot-3 wing and former five-star recruit in the 2025 class from Dedham, Massachusetts, logged 403 minutes and made 34 appearances in her only season with the SEC program. She averaged 3.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while converting on 30.9 of her attempts from behind the arc.
The No. 18-ranked recruit in the 2025 class, four spots behind fellow five-star and new teammate Brynn McGaughy, joins former Oklahoma State guard Macey Huard, ex-North Carolina State forward Tilda Trygger, and former Colorado State guard Brooke Carlson as the fourth transfer to join Tina Langley's program since the portal opened in early April.
Carroll overcame numerous potentially career-ending injuries in high school at Tabor Academy in Massachusetts to become one of the most coveted prep women's basketball players in the country two years ago. Her first season in Lexington, although not the most glamorous from an overall statistical perspective, showed true promise, which left many Wildcats' fans shocked when she opted to transfer out after just one season.
The addition of Carroll gives the Huskies a young core to build upon in the front-court with McGaughy, who averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over 30 games (10 starts) in her first season with the program, which earned her a spot on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
Langley has already overhauled the roster with the departures of senior guards Hannah Stines, Elle Ladine, and Teagan Brown, along with a pair of bigs, center Yulia Grabovskaia and forward Shayla Gillmer. In addition, three other players, freshman guard Sienna Harvey, junior guard Chloe Briggs, and junior forward Olivia Anderson, also opted to exit the program via the transfer portal.
On the heels of a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament this past season, Langley is already aiming to build a roster that should see the Huskies' return to the Big Dance and potentially advance into the quarterfinals or more for the first time since 2015-16 under then-coach Mike Neighbors.
