England pacer Myles Davis produced one of the rarest moments in cricket history after taking six wickets in six balls for Penkridge Cricket Club during a South Staffordshire County League Premier Division clash against Pelsall Cricket Club on Saturday.
The fast bowler achieved the extraordinary double hat-trick as Penkridge sealed a dominant 116-run victory. After Penkridge were bowled out for 168, Pelsall appeared steady at 49-2 before Davis unleashed a spell that stunned players and spectators alike.
Having already taken one wicket earlier in the innings, Davis began the ninth over with a wide before dramatically changing the course of the match.
He clean bowled two batters with the final two deliveries of the over, prompting teammates watching from the sidelines to pull out their phones in anticipation of a hat-trick ball.
In the next over, the first delivery brought another wicket, with a catch taken down the leg side by the wicketkeeper. Davis then continued the destruction by bowling the next three batters in succession, rattling stumps repeatedly to leave Pelsall reeling at 49-9.
āItās still a bit surreal, but itās an amazing achievement,ā Davis told BBC Midlands Today.
āI didnāt know what to think, to be honest. When the fourth [wicket] happened I was just amazed and it just carried on. I couldnāt believe it.ā
Watch:
Davis finished with remarkable figures of 7-16 from six overs, joining an exclusive list of bowlers to have taken six wickets in six balls.
According to Penkridge chairman John Price, the feat has occurred only seven times worldwide, making Davis the first adult male in the UK to achieve it.
āSo itās a massive achievement and weāre super proud,ā Price said.
The electrician almost missed the game altogether but was able to play after a colleague covered his shift.
āA shout-out to my work colleague who covered me so I could actually play,ā Davis added. āI donāt think thereās any topping that.ā
