Texas A&M travels to Gainesville this weekend to face off against #21 Florida in what could be a crucial weekend for an Aggie team that has picked up steam lately. Head coach Mike Earley remains unfazed, however, describing the upcoming series as a “typical SEC weekend.”
Don’t mistake this confidence for hubris, however. Earley credited a talented Gator team, calling them “a really good team with a ton of talent and a ton of guys that are going to play in the major leagues, in my opinion.”
Earley also shed some light on the starting rotation, saying that the Sunday starter will be left with a TBA designation – to be announced. The Aggies first changed the rotation two weeks ago ahead of the Lonestar Showdown against Texas, replacing Weston Moss with Aiden Sims as the Saturday starter, leaving Sunday TBA.
After sweeping Texas, Earley rode with the new rotation against LSU and was rewarded with a second consecutive streak as the Aggies rode a 6-game win streak. Moss started in Game 3 against LSU, but Earley is keeping his options open for this series with higher stakes at play.
