Weāre now more than three months into the 2026 tennis season, and itās clear Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are still a class above the rest of the field.
After a dominant 2025 campaign, both players have carried their form into this year, with Alcaraz sitting on top of the rankings and Sinner just behind him. Both players have surpassed the 13,000-point mark.
Sinner kicked off his year by winning three Masters 1000 events, while Alcaraz added to his tally with a Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park ā the only one he hadnāt won previously.
Despite several names being mentioned as potential challengers to this new era of dominance, tennis great Boris Becker believes only three players truly stand a chance of breaking through.

Speaking to Tennis365, Boris Becker said: āIām still particularly keen to look at the younger players. I really like Arthur Filsā return after being injured for a long time last year.
āI like how heās playing this year. Final in Doha, semi-final in Miami. At 21, if he stays in good physical condition, I think he can challenge Alcaraz and Sinner for a Grand Slam title in the future. He just needs to avoid further injuries and keep going like this.
āI also really like Learner Tien, who is 20 and improving very quickly. The fact that Michael Chang agreed to coach him speaks volumes. With him, heāll improve even more.
āAnd then thereās also [Joao] Fonseca, of course. Heās had some good tournaments, but I think his future is even brighter.
āAll these players still need to refine their game. They need to be there when it really counts. Not just in practice or in the quarter-finals of every tournament.
