Trabzonspor’s president has confirmed they will try to sign Andre Onana upon the culmination of his loan spell this summer.
However, he conceded that the decision ultimately lies in the Manchester United man’s hands.

Instead, they will cash in before he starts the penultimate season of his contract, though whether that will be to Trabzonspor remains to be seen.
United did not include any buy option or obligation when negotiating Onana’s loan to the Turkish outfit last year, so a new deal would need to be discussed, as well as a suitable transfer fee; the Reds paid £44 million to sign him from Inter Milan in July 2023.

Throughout his time in the Super Lig thus far, the 30-year-old has made 26 appearances, conceding 31 goals and keeping six clean sheets.
On Thursday, he oversaw a particularly stellar display, initially registering a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Samsunspor in the Turkish Cup before going on to save three penalties in the shootout.
It was that tremendous performance that prompted Trabzonspor president, Ertuğrul Doğan, to express his desire to retain Onana.
He told NTV Spor: “Onana’s career is already established. We like him. I’ve said this before. He has a certain plan for his career. If the conditions are right, we want him to stay. The final decision will be Onana’s.”
