The last time the La Salle girls lacrosse team was in a close game at halftime, things didnât end well.
Wednesday, they couldnât have gone any better.

Last week La Salle played one of its best halves of the season and trailed defending state champ Moses Brown 2-0 at the break before the Quakers opened up a can in the third quarter and rolled to a 10-3 win.
Things were a little different Thursday with it being at home and emotions flying high on Senior Night, but the Rams had similar success with how their defense played and also had trouble finding consistency on the offensive end.
With Prout hyper-focused on slowing Lily Peters, the La Salle offense was built around the play of Ellsie Freitas, Morgan Dube, Rhyse Smith and Brinley Freitas. With the defense in control, it was the 12 minutes the Rams were looking for.
The fourth quarter gave La Salle an opportunity to eat clock and get some other players out on the field, including backup goalie Sophie Owens, who made her first career save in net.
Ellsie Freitas and Dube led the Rams with three goals apiece and Smith and Freitas both had two. Peyton Giroux had another tremendous effort and made nine saves in the win.
Lizzie Hill provided three goals for Prout while Miley Keramidas scored the other.
La Salle improved to 8-5 with the win that keeps them comfortably in fourth place in the Division I RPI standings, which would ensure a home playoff game for the quarterfinals. The Rams wrap up the regular season Tuesday when they host second-place East Greenwich.
The final score was La Salle 11, Prout 6.
La Salle built upon their one-goal halftime lead with a strong second half, scoring multiple goals to secure the win.
The halftime lead was crucial as it marked a turnaround from their previous close game experiences, allowing them to confidently extend their advantage.

Jayden Healey (11), shown in a game on Tuesday against La Salle, helped lead the Townies to victory over Moses Brown on Wednesday.
Jayden Healey's sacrifice fly in the 10th inning plated one run and Gavin Palombo's steal of home added another as the Townies outlasted the Quakers in this 10-inning affair.
Tied 1-1 after seven innings, both teams scored twice in the eighth and once more in the ninth to keep the score knotted. After the visiting Townies scored twice in the 10th, Moses Brown nearly tied it yet again, after Brayden Menard scored on a fielder's choice.
But Healey, who had taken over for starter Ben Hallene as the EP reliever in the eighth, closed the door by fielding a groundball back to the mound and throwing out the runner for the final out.

Brayden Rosen, South Kingstown Baseball
In a pitchers' duel between Barrington's Tommy Coutant and South Kingstown's Brayden Rosen, a fifth-inning single by Nick Vellone proved to be the deciding factor in the Rebels' victory.
Sam McLeod hit a two-out single, and stole second to set the stage in the fifth, and Vellone's single to center brought him home. It was the lone blemish on Coutant's outing as he allowed six hits through six innings in the hard-luck loss.
South Kingstown's Rosen was nearly unhittable, scattering three hits and striking out nine, with no walks or runs allowed through seven innings to earn the W.
Cole Rosen collected three hits for the Rebels, as McLeod and Vellone each had one.

Ryan struck out six, allowed just three hits and earned a complete-game shutout victory for the home team. Gabe Ramirez and Anthony Roman each collected a pair of hits and three Cougars â Carter Harris, Tyler Linehan and Ramirez â had an RBI.
Aiden Neil took the loss for the Panthers after tossing three innings, striking out three and allowing four hits and one earned run. Ethan Bracey collected two hits to lead Johnston's offense in the loss.
Noah Ferreira, Blackstone Valley Prep/Central Falls Baseball
Noah Ferreira struck out 13 en route to a complete-game victory over Pawtucket on Wednesday, giving up six hits and a single run through seven innings at Max Read Field.

Ouilette struck out nine and allowed just three hits through seven frames as Scituate earned its 10th win of the season to maintain it's No. 3 spot in the Division III RPI rankings.
At the plate Bishop Green led the Spartans with two hits.

Jerry Gamboa and and Chris Bernardhad a hit and two RBI in the loss.
The Eagles and Navigators went back-and-forth all afternoon, with each team grabbing the lead, only to see the other overtake them. But in the sixth inning, Cuffee scored the runs that would matter most.
After a lead-off walk, the Navigators plated three runs on infield groundouts to take a two-run lead. In the seventh, they would hold the Eagles to a single run and hold on for the 10-9 win.

Sara Slitt - shown from action in April - had the big hit of the day, driving in the go-ahead runs in Prout's 5-4 win over the Oakers.
Sara Slitt came up with the clutch hit and Lily Sheehan got out of a seventh-inning jam that gave the Crusaders a 5-4 win over the Oakers.
Prout trailed 3-0 before scoring twice in the fifth and carried that momentum over to the sixth inning. An error allowed Emma Sechio to reach to open the inning and one out walks to Mia Boyajian and Kelsea Flaherty set the stage for Slitt, who ripped one to center to score two runs. Ana Pearce followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3.
One swing from Amelia Caisse â who led the game off with a triple â made things interesting and her two-out home run brought Sheehan in for starter Megan Gardiner. Sheehan proceeded to surrendered three straight hits, but induced a soft popup to first base to end the game.
Slitt came up big all game, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI. Boyajian scored twice and Izzie Woodmansee went 2-for-2 with one run.
The top four in Coventryâs order â Caisse, Leah Lapham, Mary McGovern and Katherine Guiot â accounted for the offense, as each had two hits. Caisse scored twice and drove in one run in the loss.
Cora Floriani - shown from action in April - had plenty to clap about Wednesday in Barrington's blowout win over Woonsocket.
After three quiet innings, the Eagles offense exploded and closed out an 18-0 win over the Villa Novans.
There was no indication the game was headed in that direction with Barrington leading Woonsocket 1-0 through three innings. Grace Saltzman drove in the first run and, after an out, the Eagles plated seven more before another out was recorded. With two outs Barrington was even better, bundling hits, walks and Villa Novan errors together to pile on 17 total runs in the inning.
Grace Fontaine had two of the biggest hits, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, three RBI and two runs. Cora Floriani went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs and Zoe Kelsey and Maya Etheridge drove in two and scored twice. Scoreless after two, Heon stepped to the plate with one out and had two runners in scoring position when she ripped a double, bringing two runs in. Xavier followed with a triple and, with two outs, Madison Clayton drove her in to make it 4-0. North Providence added two more in the fifth, giving it plenty of breathing room over the final three innings.
Heon finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs and Clayton also had two hits while scoring one run. Xavier had one run and one RBI and Olivia Geib-Ayala threw a complete game, giving up five hits, walking one and striking out nine batters.
Sophia Maggiacomo had a highlight for Scituate, hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning of the loss.
Maci Linton mashed and Ayla Burlingham joined the fun as well in the Patriotsâ 16-1 win over the Blue Wave.
Hope scored first but Davies scored the rest, getting three runs in the bottom of the first before piling on nine in the second. An RBI single by Linton in the third inning brought the 15-run rule into play in the third inning.
Linton hit everything in sight, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Burlingham also drove in three runs and scored twice. Lixaury Negron finished 2-for-3 with two runs, Kylie Robert scored three times and Zoe Robinson scored twice and had one RBI in the win.
