West Ham United executive director Nathan Thompson leaves with immediate effect, financial director Andy Mollett to retire at the end of the season
West Ham United have announced that executive director Nathan Thompson has stepped down from his role with the Hammers with immediate effect.
He follows Karren Brady, who stepped down earlier today after 16 years as West Ham’s vice-chairman, out of the London Stadium club.
Brady and Thompson are not the only ones leaving the Hammers, West Ham financial director Andy Mollett will also retire at the end of the season.
Thompson spent over nine and a half years with the Irons, helping them with record-breaking commercial growth across partnerships, hospitality, retail and ticketing.
He also helped significantly improve their marketing, digital and content operations.
West Ham’s pre-season tours to the USA and Australia were some of the major strategic initiatives Thompson also led.
Mollett has been West Ham’s chief financial officer since 2012 and more changes could be on the cards in the coming weeks.
There are a number at West Ham that identify as “Karren’s people”, which is why more senior employees could follow her out.
Brady first began considering leaving the club in January before making up her mind in the middle of February. It remains to be seen whether their relegation battle played a role in his decision to step down, but friends and family had been telling her for sometime to move on given the toxic atmosphere at the club. She will now focus on her business interests and House of Lords role, and West Ham are expected to make major appointments in key roles this summer regardless of which division they are in at the end of the campaign.
Nathan Thompson stepped down from his role as executive director, but the specific reasons for his departure have not been disclosed.
As of now, there is no announcement regarding a replacement for Nathan Thompson at West Ham United.
