The Boston Red Sox's firing of Alex Cora and a handful of coaches is still a story that is catching fans' attention around the league. Plus, more and more details keep coming to the surface.
It's no secret that the Red Sox's offense has been bad so far this season, to say the least. Boston fans saw a perfect example of this on Wednesday afternoon in an 8-1 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. Simply put, it was a tough contest for the Red Sox.
Of the coaches fired by Boston, one was former hitting coach Pete Fatse. With him out the door, you'd have to imagine that there was a disconnect between him and the front office. On Wednesday, The Athletic'sChad Jennings, Jen McCaffrey, Patrick Mooney and Ken Rosenthal shared a column about the wild week for Boston and showed just how big of a disconnect there was between Fatse and Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow.
"(The front office) didnât believe in Pete, letâs put it that way,â one source said to The Athletic'sinsiders. âThey didnât believe in Pete. Thatâs the reality of it. Thatâs true.â
That's not all, though. One player noted that Breslow "hated" the way the club trained on offense.
"Breslow hated that we wouldnât âtrainâ the way he thought was optimal on the hitting side. I donât even know what Breslow thinks is the proper way to train hitting.â
While the Red Sox fired a handful of guys, it doesn't sound like all of the issues are gone.
