What date do you have circled on the Lions’ 2026 schedule?

In what always feels like the first step towards the upcoming season, teams around the NFL released their regular-season schedules this week. Teams like the Los Angeles Chargers did their usual thing while others, like the Lions, went with a more subtle approach. Personally, I didn’t mind what Detroit did this year. It certainly could have been a more elaborate production, but the message that this season is strictly business should resonate with a lot of fans.

Shifting back to the actual schedule, there weren’t a ton of surprises. Naturally, the Lions are once again playing in a boatload of primetime matchups. When you’re America’s team, these are the things that happen. The only major complaints I currently have are obviously the Week 6 bye, and the tough matchups that follow Detroit’s trip to Germany to play the New England Patriots.

Besides those issues, I like that the Lions open the season at home. There is something special about being downtown and at the game during that first week of regular-season football. And while I could pick that game as my circled date for the season, I have another one in mind that sticks out more, which leads us to our question of the day…

Which game do you have circled for 2026?

My answer: Thanksgiving. The Chicago Bears are the current NFC North Champions, and I want the Lions to knock them down a few pegs in front of the entire country. Send a message to them and the rest of the North that the Lions are coming for their third division title in four years.
