The Minnesota Vikings' offseason has been a unique one over the last couple of months. The team moved on from general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in the middle of the draft process, they let their coaching staff make the picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they also made some drastic cuts and moves to get salary cap relief.
All of this has led to the team taking what a Super Bowl window was and closing it significantly, and they are now heading into 2026 with a not-so-favorable grade of the moves from Bleacher Report. Brent Sobleski wrote up grades for each NFL team's offseason, and for the Vikings, he gave them a less-than-favorable D.
Sobleski writes, "The Minnesota Vikings are still reeling from last offseason's Sam Darnold decision. While Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks are now reigning Super Bowl champions, the Vikings aren't settled at quarterback. . .Defensively, coordinator Brian Flores will continue to have this group flying around and creating havoc. However, the organization made the rather suspect decision to draft defensive tackle Caleb Banks with its first-round pick. . .Minnesota's general manager-less front office also cut defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, then traded Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles."
The team has some roster holes that can be filled by young, upcoming players, but they are unlikely to get them in 2026. They face significant uncertainty in the upcoming season, much of it self-imposed.
