Beating the Quakers when theyâre angry.
On Thursday Moses Brown lost to one of the best teams in New England and on Saturday it took it out on a young and talented Barrington squad. Jane Belsito dominated the draw circle, the Quakersâ offense could not be stopped and Avery Butler had a hat trick before the first quarter ended in the 18-5 win over the previously undefeated Eagles.

Thursday didnât go quite as well for Moses Brown, which had cruised to three wins in its first three games of the Division I see. Hosting Cohasset (Mass.), the Quakers were picked apart and took an 18-8 defeat in a game that counted in the D-I RPI standings.
With a 4-0 record â and four impressive wins â Barrington was ready to show it was ready to compete with the three-time defending state champs. It took the Quakers less than a quarter to prove otherwise.
Belsito owned the draw circle and got Moses Brown possession after possession. The Quakers put on a show with the ball with deliberate, smart possessions that led to clean shot after clean shot. Nina Brosco scored the gameâs first goal 1:47 into the first, which was followed by one from Samantha Mocco and two from Butler that made it 4-0 less than seven minutes in.
Moses Brown continued with the offensive display with four more goals over the final 4:11, including Butlerâs third with 3:12 left to play.
The final score was 18-5 in favor of Moses Brown.
Avery Butler scored a hat trick in the game.

The scoring slowed down in the second quarter, but Moses Brownâs defense was stellar when Barrington did have the ball. The Quakers owned an 11-1 lead at halftime and the second half was played with a running clock.
Butler led Moses Brown with six goals and Mocco scored three. Belsito, Brosco, Sophia Mocco, and Adelaide Crosby scored two goals apiece with Lola Baill accounting for the other tally.
Barrington was led by two goals from Ashley DaCosta and two fourth-quarter goals from Lily OâNeill. Tessa Lapinski had the other score for the Eagles.

The Oakers threw up four runs with two outs in the first inning and never looked back, taking care of the Bengals, 7-3.
After the first two Coventry batters were retired, Mary McGovern hit a single and took second on an error. Katherine Guiot followed with an RBI double, then scored on a single by Payton Baris. She scored on an error after a single by Addison Kerwin, who later scored on a wild pitch.
The Oakers added two more in the second â highlighted by an RBI triple by Amelia Caisse â but didnât need the runs. McGovern threw four innings, gave up two hits and one earned run, striking out five to pick up the win. Kendall Bednarski threw the final three innings to earn the save.
Kerwin added a homer later in the game and scored two runs. Caisse went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run and McGovern had two hits in the win.
Sophia Vieira was a bright spot for Bay View, going 2-for-4 with one run.
Marianna Pina got the job done with her arm and bat as the Townies broke up a tie game with a huge fifth inning in a 10-3 win over the Chieftains.
East Providence trailed by two before tying the game in the fourth, keyed by an RBI triple from Pina. The Townies went to work with one out in the fifth, scoring two runs on an error to take a 5-3 lead. Pina followed with an RBI single and a two-run double by Ella Grimley made it 8-3. Megan Pita capped the scoring with a two-out RBI single.
Pina made the lead stick. She took over in the third inning and quieted the Ponaganset bats, finishing four innings of work giving up only two hits with five strikeouts. Offensively, Pina went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Grimley had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Ava Silva scored three times and drove in two in the win.
Selah Michael had two RBI for Ponaganset and Haleigh Mooney had two hits in the loss.
The Panthers took advantage of six errors and a big fourth inning gave them the lead for good in an eventual 12-3 win over the Clippers.
Trailing 3-2 â with both runs coming off an error â after three innings, Johnstonâs bats came alive. Haley Boudreau delivered the game-tying RBI single and Bella Boudreau wore a pitch to bring in the go-ahead run. Mariah Fleury followed with a two-run double, Kendall Duguay brought in a run on a groundout and Samaya Imondiâs RBI double capped the scoring and gave the Panthers an 8-3 lead.
Haley Boudreau made sure it stuck and threw four scoreless innings to close out the win. She finished the game giving up five hits, walking four, allowing one earned run and striking out 14. Haley Boudreau also went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored.
Fleury had a nice day at the plate for Johnston, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs. Duguay drove in three and Bella Boudreau scored three times and drove in one run.
Sara Poland and Liliana Luis, Tiverton Softball
The defending Division III champ showed why they should have moved up to Division II, as the offense came through big in a 10-2 win over the Eagles.
Tiverton rolled to the Division III title but instead of moving up to D-II to play tougher competition, the program elected to remain in D-III.
Up against Barrington â one of the preseason favorites in D-II â the Tigers showed why staying down to chase a faux title was a mistake. Tiverton put up two runs in the first inning and the Eagles answered with one in the bottom of the third, added two in the third and one in the fourth.
Up 5-2, Tiverton closed strong with five runs over the last two innings to grab the win.
Morgan DiManno led the way for the offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Sara Poland hit a home run and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs. Carli Martin finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs.
Grace Fontaine and Maya Etheridge both hit home runs in the loss for Barrington.
