Edwin Diaz's trumpets have been temporarily silenced.
The former Mets closer, who signed a three-year, $69 million pact with the Dodgers in the offseason, has been placed on the 15-day injured list with loose bodies in his right elbow. The veteran reliever is expected to be out until the second half of the season.
Diaz has pitched in six games this season for the Dodgers, allowing seven earned runs in six innings with 10 strikeouts. He will now miss his first major time since he was sidelined from the 2023 season after tearing his patellar tendon in his right knee during that season's World Baseball Classic.
Dodger fans have only been able to hear Diaz's brassy entrance "Narco" four times at home this season.

He converted his first two saves at Dodger Stadium before blowing his third when he allowed three earned runs on four hits and one walk against the Rangers back on April 10. He managed to notch the win in that outing when the Dodgers took the lead in the 10th inning, but his velocity was down. The Dodgers have used him carefully since.
Diaz warmed up to face his former team last week on April 15, with the Dodgers up 3-1 in the eighth inning before Dalton Rushing ripped a game-breaking grand slam off Devin Williams, the new Mets' closer. Williams, who signed a three-year, $51 million deal before Diaz's departure, has had his own uneven start to his Mets tenure. Since opening with five scoreless innings, including two saves, Williams has allowed five earned runs in 1⅓ innings in his last two outings.
On Sunday, Williams blew his first save when he entered in the ninth inning with the Mets leading 1-0 over the Cubs and gave up a pair of hits, including a pinch-hit RBI double to Michael Conforto. The Cubs went on to win the game, 2-1, in 10 innings to deal the Mets their 11th straight defeat.
