Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves suffered a tough loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series on Wednesday night. Leading up to the game, his status remained uncertain after he was initially listed as questionable because of his lingering knee issues.
However, Edwards was later cleared to play and suited up for the Timberwolves despite continuing to deal with discomfort.
After the game, he was spotted leaving the court with ice wrapped around both knees.
Edwards is currently battling a hyperextended left knee along with a bone bruise, injuries he suffered during Game 4 of Minnesota’s first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets last month. The injury initially looked serious as he landed awkwardly while contesting a layup attempt, causing his knee to bend before he had to be assisted back to the locker room.
Edwards managed to return for Game 1 against after just 10 days of recovery. In that game, he logged 25 minutes and contributed 18 points in Minnesota’s narrow 104-102 win. However, it has been clear throughout the series that he is still far from fully healthy.

Edwards has been playing through visible discomfort and is currently on a minutes restriction. He played 24 minutes in Game 2 but struggled to make his usual offensive impact, finishing with only 12 points as the Spurs cruised to a 133-95 win.
The lopsided loss evened the series at 1-1 heading into Game 3. With the series shifting back to the Target Center on Friday night, Edwards expects the home atmosphere to be electric and intense.
"They're gonna be turnt up,” Edwards said. “They're gonna be falling all over and sh*t, drunk as hell," he said of the fans. "They're gonna be loud as hell in there."
Minnesota has thrived in front of its home crowd, and Edwards has often fed off that energy throughout his career.
