The Philadelphia 76ers are set to enter a new era in their franchise's history after the decision to part ways with Daryl Morey after six seasons as the team's President of Basketball Operations. The Sixers certainly made strides under Morey, but ultimately, fell short in Round 2 in four seasons, missed the playoffs one year, and fell in Round 1 the other year.
Therefore, the Sixers are moving on. As for who will lead the basketball operations department in the interim, that job will fall to Bob Myers who was hired by team governors Josh Harris and David Blitzer to be the president of Harris & Blitzer Sports Entertainment after 12 seasons as the GM of the Golden State Warriors.
With that being said, Myers is not slated to take over the job permanently. Per Jake Fischer via The Stein Line substack:
It was stressed to me Tuesday night that Myers — although he is scheduled to arrive soon in Chicago to dive into his various pressing tasks — will step back into an advisory role once Morey's successor is named.
I'm also told Myers will interview candidates internally as well as externally to take over … but also that it's far too early to name any possible favorites for the role.
This is a decision that makes the most sense. Myers has been around the Sixers all year, but it always felt as if he was just there to help support the team in any way he possibly could. Sixers Wire never felt that he would take over for Morey at any moment.
With that being said, Myers could lead this search for the Sixers and then everybody decides that he is, in fact, the right man for the job. Everything changes quickly in this league and it moves at a fast pace. Therefore, one can expect some type of movement heading into the next couple of weeks as the Sixers look to prepare for the offseason.

The 76ers decided to move on from Daryl Morey after failing to advance past the second round of the playoffs in four seasons and missing the playoffs once.
Bob Myers will temporarily lead the basketball operations department but will transition back to an advisory role once a new president is appointed.
It is currently too early to identify potential candidates for Morey's replacement, but Bob Myers will interview both internal and external candidates.
