The Atlanta Falcons selected cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 48th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He is the younger brother of CB A.J. Terrell and was projected as a first-round pick.
What scouts said about Falcons CB Avieon Terrell before the draft
The Atlanta Falcons added another member of the Terrell family to their secondary on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell with pick No. 48 overall. The little brother of Falcons CB1 A.J. Terrell was a projected first-round pick.
While the cornerback position was not one of the team's most-pressing needs, the addition of Terrell can make this unit of the NFL's best. The Clemson standout appears a bit undersized to play on the outside, but he did so just fine in college. Terrell should compete for a starting job this season, whether at nickel or outside cornerback.
So, what did NFL scouts say about Atlanta's second-round pick prior to the 2026 NFL Draft? Let's take look at some pre-draft scouting reports.
"Terrell is undersized, but NFL teams, especially those running press-heavy schemes, would be wise to bet on his reaction quickness and compete skills," wrote Brugler. "He projects as a rookie starter with inside-outside versatility."
"The younger brother of Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr., Avieon Terrell is a sudden and versatile player who can make an impact in the slot or out wide," wrote Miller. "He has elite ball production, with three sacks and five forced fumbles last season and 21 pass breakups dating to 2024. Despite lacking elite size, Terrell undercuts routes well and has the closing speed to impact the ball in the air. He's not an outside press corner but has the quickness to excel as a nickel or slot defender."
Scouts noted that Avieon Terrell, while slightly undersized, performed well in college and was projected as a first-round pick.
Avieon Terrell plays as a cornerback and is expected to compete for a starting job at either nickel or outside cornerback.
Avieon Terrell's brother is A.J. Terrell, who plays as the CB1 for the Atlanta Falcons.
Avieon Terrell was selected with the 48th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

"Despite his size, he has forced eight fumbles in his career and is a willing, intelligent run defender," wrote PFF. "His ball production is also strong, as he ranks in the 92nd percentile in forced incompletion percentage. Above all, he is one of the smartest players in the class. His instincts and feel for the position are already at an NFL level, allowing him to play fast and with confidence."
"Terrell is an undersized cornerback with tremendous quickness and instincts," wrote Jeremiah. "He projects best as a nickel at the next level. I love his feisty, competitive play style. He utilizes his quick feet and smooth change of direction to match up in the slot. He stays in position with great movement skills and body control. He has excellent eyes and closing speed in underneath zone coverage."
"Younger brother of Falcons cornerback and former first-round pick A.J. Terrell, Avieon is a distinctly different type of corner," CBS Sports wrote in Terrell's scouting report. "Heâs much more of a matchup zone/nickel-type corner whose value comes as a tackler and his ability to diagnose quickly. He forced eight fumbles over the past two seasons and is an outstanding run defender for his size."
