Jeremy Greene recommends targeting Jeremiyah Love and Mansoor Delane.
If neither player is available, the Commanders should consider trading down.
When the clock starts for the Washington Commanders' No. 7 pick on Thursday, what should they be thinking?
NFL Draft analyst Jeremy Greene, who hosts "The Sportsocracy" on Fox Sports Upstate 104.9 FM (Asheville, NC), is associated with NFLDraft.net. He was a guest on Sunday on the "Take Command" podcast with Grant Paulsen and former Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen.
Greene was asked when the clock starts for the Commanders, what he would be thinking if he were in the Commanders' draft room? Greene has a succinct way with words, so I know Commanders fans will be interested in Greene's thoughts.
"If Jeremiyah Love is on the board, I will take the fastest person in the war room and run it up to the podium. If Mansoor Delane is there, I would do the same thing." (This is because Love and Delane are rated the top running back and corner respectively in this draft).
"If it's neither of them, and the only way that happens is if an offensive lineman does not go in the top six. If you are Washington, the minute you see an offensive lineman, you should mentally tell yourself, 'We are sticking at seven.' Because one of those two guys will be there."
"If those two guys are gone, and Sonny Styles, I'm just assuming he won't be there. If those three guys are gone, I am making the call to trade down."
But my order, in order, would probably be Styles 1, Delane 2, Jeremiyah Love 3."
Grant Paulsen then asked Greene, "What if both ARE there?"
Greene responded, "I am really glad that Adam Peters gets to make that call, and I don't. That's like picking between my children. Which one is cuter? Well, they're both cute, I love them both dearly. I wouldn't be mad either way."
The 2026 NFL Draft will be the 91st draft for the league and will be hosted in Pittsburgh. The NFL says it is the first time the draft has been held in Pittsburgh since 1948. There will be 257 players selected in this draft over three days. Thursday (round one), Friday (rounds two and three), Saturday (rounds four through seven), April 23-25 at Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium.
