With their final pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected TJ Hall, an Iowa Hawkeyes cornerback. It was a seventh round choice, number 219 overall, that the Saints had picked up earlier in Day 3 during a trade with the Raiders. Hall is just the fourth Iowa player ever drafted by New Orleans and the first Hawkeye since Austin Wheatley back in the 2000 draft.
Most expected the Saints to select a cornerback early in the draft. Instead, Hall was the only corner that the team added through the three day event. Here's a look at what Hall brings to his first NFL team.

TJ Hall is like a stereotype Iowa defensive back in many ways -- fundamentally sound but lacks any standout attributes. He has a solid coverage baseline but won't make any game-changing plays and definitely needs safety help over the top. Hall doesn't look like a long-term starter, but could develop into a quality depth player.
Most expected the Saints to take a cornerback early in the draft. New Orleans passed up several opportunities to do so, waiting until the last round. Hall's key to a roster spot will be via special teams, where his open-field tackling and physicality could be an asset for a unit that had major struggles last year. It's an area where the Saints seemed to focus on with their last three choices in the draft, so Hall will certainly have an opportunity to earn a job.
