When will injured Owen Tippett return to the Flyers in the playoffs?

The Philadelphia Flyers have been without their leading goal scorer from the regular season, Owen Tippett, for the first two games of their second round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes. And ahead of Game 3 on Thursday night, Tippett was ruled out from the game in favor of Christian Dvorak.

Since the start of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Tippett has been dealing with a nagging injury that has kept him from participating in the series against the Hurricanes so far. Though Tippett has been classified as "day-to-day" and has been practicing with the team, the forward has yet to make his appearance in the series. Entering Thursday night's pivotal Game 3, the Flyers are down 0-2 in the series to the Hurricanes as the games shift to Philadelphia.

Given Tippett has been practicing on the ice with his teammates, is there hope he'll return for the Flyers sometime this playoff series? Right now, it seems uncertain. According to PHLY reporter Charlie O'Connor, while Tippett's injury has been undisclosed, it doesn't seem to be a concussion, but it is serious enough to keep him off the ice for games.

Tippett scored a team-high 28 goals and had 51 points in 81 games for the Flyers this year, so his absence from the series has been impactful for Philadelphia. We'll have to see if he'll be able to make enough a recovery from whatever has been ailing him so he can return to the Flyers' lineup this postseason.
