Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani hit his 25th and 26th leadoff home runs Saturday and Sunday, moving him up in the all-time leaderboard.
With 26 leadoff bombs, Ohtani tied himself at 29th all-time with Dexter Fowler, José Reyes, Rickie Weeks and former Dodger Joc Pederson. Ohtani hit 20 of those 26 leadoff homers as a Dodger, placing him fourth in team history behind current Dodger Mookie Betts (32), Davy Lopes (28) and the aforementioned Pederson (21).
Ohtaniâs number is impressive given his limited time in the leadoff spot, but he is still quite a ways away from making his way towards the top of the list.

Rickey Henderson stands alone at the top of the list of players with the most leadoff bombs, having hit 81 during his illustrious, Hall of Fame career.
George Springer claims second on the list and is one of two active players in the Top 5, trailing Henderson by 17 home runs at 64. He hit 39 of those with the Houston Astros, and took over the club record with the Toronto Blue Jays with 25.
Alfonso Soriano has the third-highest total with 54, and had the single-season record for leadoff homers prior to 2024.
Another Astro in Craig Biggio fills the fourth spot, crushing 53 home runs from the leadoff spotâjust one shy of Soriano.
Betts is the fifth player on the list, posting 52 homers from the top of the order, though likely wonât get to close the two-homer gap between himself and Soriano due to Ohtaniâs presence at the top of the lineup.
Ohtani hit 18 leadoff home runs in his first two seasons with the Dodgers, six in his first season and 12 in 2025. If he continues to average nine leadoff homers per year, which he is on track for this season, he will reach Hendersonâs 81 some time in 2032.
Thatâs not a prediction, though, as hitting a home run in any capacity is obviously a difficult feat.
He is definitely in the running to reach Bettsâ record, though, and could very well surpass him next season, if not in 2026.
Ohtani definitely has the quality to achieve records as lofty as these, and will look to continue contributing to the Dodgers from the leadoff spot for however long he maintains his place at the top of the lineup.
The two-way superstarâs next opportunity to do some damage will come in the Dodgersâ second game of a three-game set against the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start the outing and look to get the Dodgers on the right track for their fourth consecutive series win at 7:10 p.m. PT.

Shohei Ohtani has hit a total of 26 leadoff home runs in his career.
