Florida football ranks 38th in the latest college football rerank after spring practice, placing 10th among SEC schools. The Gators are in a rebuilding phase under new head coach Jon Sumrall.
College football's spring practice season is now officially in the books, and after the first glimpse at what the 138 teams in the Bowl Subdivision have to offer heading into summer, the way-too-early rankings for the 2026 campaign continue to trickle out.
Among the latest offerings from the sports media is USA TODAY Sports' complete rerank of the FBS landscape, which includes the additions of former Championship Subdivision programs Sacramento State and North Dakota State, which joined the MAC and Mountain West conferences, respectively.
In it, the Florida Gators â who failed to crack the top-25 rankings after finishing 4-8 last season and entering a rebuild phase with new head coach Jon Sumrall at the helm â land at No. 38. Among Southeastern Conference schools, that puts the Orange and Blue at 10th in the league, behind the No. 35 Vanderbilt Commodores and ahead of the No. 43 Missouri Tigers.
The SEC has eight programs among the top 25 in the rerank, headlined by the third-ranked Texas Longhorns, followed by the Georgia Bulldogs (No. 4), Oklahoma Sooners (No. 7) and Texas A&M Aggies (No. 9) in the top 10. The Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 12), Ole Miss Rebels (No. 13), LSU Tigers (No. 16) and (No. 18) round out the remaining teams that cracked the top tier.
