Selection Sunday is here, and it's nearly time to find out the seeding for the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament.
The Florida State Seminoles secured their 20th ACC Tournament Championship on Saturday with a 2-1 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies. It is their ninth title in the past 12 years and the 10th under head coach Lonni Alameda. They will now look to follow it up with another trip to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
They were already going to the NCAA Tournament, but the win secured an automatic bid for the Seminoles and helped their resume. The only question now is what seed they will be awarded after going 49-8 and winning both the ACC regular season and tournament championship. They will find out on Sunday during the selection show, which will air on ESPN2 and is set to start at 7 p.m. ET.
While the official announcement has not been made, Softball America has released its final projections for the tournament, and they have the Seminoles as the No. 8 overall seed, putting them in line to host a Regional and Super Regional, if they can win the Tallahassee Regional.
The projections have them paired with the No. 2-seeded Washington Huskies, No. 3-seeded Stetson Hatters, and No. 4-seeded FAMU Rattlers. FSU beat FAMU 14-0 this season, and is 121-7 against them all-time. They are 17-1 against Stetson, and the series is tied 8-8 against Washington.
The ACC is well represented with eight teams making the field and two set to host. While FSU is the highest seed at No. 8, the Duke Blue Devils are the No. 12 seed, setting them up to host a regional. Georgia Tech, Louisville, Virginia, Clemson, Stanford, and Virginia Tech also made the tournament in the bracketology.
