FSU Seminoles finished the regular season as ACC champions with a 46-8 record. Despite their success, they dropped to the No. 15 seed in Softball America's latest NCAA Tournament bracketology.
The 2026 college softball regular season came to a close this weekend, and the FSU Seminoles are once again the ACC champions and are looking to boost their rankings for the NCAA Softball Tournament. They are entering the ACC Softball Tournament hot, sweeping Boston College to become outright champions.
They finished the regular season 46-8 overall and 21-3 in ACC play. They are the No. 1 seed in the ACC Softball Tournament, earning a double-bye and will not play their first game until Thursday. The tournament is set to start on Wednesday at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Despite the sweep, the Seminoles still took a fall in Softball America's latest bracketology for the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles fell to the No. 15 overall seed in the field of 64, a two-spot drop from last week's projections.
The projection still has them hosting a regional, but they will now be facing a much tougher opponent if they can win the Tallahassee Regional. The projection matches them up with No. 2-seed Mississippi State Bulldogs, No. 3-seed USF Bulls, and No. 4-seeded Miami (OH) RedHawks.
FSU is 9-7 against Mississippi State, with the Bulldogs winning the last two meetings in Tallahassee. They are 3-0 against USF, outscoring them 21-1. The Seminoles are 13-6 against Miami (OH), going 10-6 at home, but have not played them since 2010.
The ACC is well represented with eight teams making the field and two set to host, the second and third most in the country, respectively. In addition to FSU, the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils are projected to host a regional.
