It's officially state tournament time for some of Marion County's baseball teams.
But before we turn our attention to the FHSAA playoffs, let's take a look back at how Ocala-area teams fared in their respective district tournaments.
The area bred three district championship-winning teams as North Marion, Trinity Catholic and Vanguard all came away with district crowns, locking up their spots in the state playoffs.
Those teams who fell short, meanwhile, now to their attention to Monday, April 20, when the FHSAA will release playoff brackets.
The third-seeded Belleview Rattlers (14-6) earned a bid to Thursday's District 5-5A championship after beating No. 2 seed Gainesville (13-10) 6-5 on the road in Tuesday night's district semifinal game.
The Rattlers' win over the Hurricanes set up Belleview's date with No. 1 seed Seabreeze (11-14) in the championship clash, which Belleview lost by the score of 7-2.
Like Belleview, Dunnellon (6-20) pulled off an opening-round upset as a No. 3 seed beating a No. 2 seed as the Tigers topped Citrus (6-12) 13-5 on Tuesday.
The Tigers' win over the Hurricanes from Inverness sent them to the District 5-4A championship game, where they met with in-county foe Vanguard on Thursday night. Vanguard went on to beat Dunnellon and capture the district crown with an 8-3 win.
Playing in a larger district than the first two mentioned teams, Forest (9-17) kept the streak of Ocala-area teams scoring a first-round upsets alive as the fifth-seeded Wildcats beat the fourth-seeded Oakleaf Knights (12-14) 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Following Forest's District 2-6A quarterfinal win, the Wildcats earned themselves a meeting with top-seeded Buchholz (19-7) in the semifinal on Thursday. Buchholz went on to beat Forest 5-0 en route to the Bobcats securing the district crown on Friday night.
Lake Weir (2-18), playing in the same district as Vanguard and Dunnellon as the No. 4 seed, found itself paired up with top-seeded Vanguard (17-7) in the District 5-4A semifinal on Tuesday night.
In what was the third meeting of the two teams this season, the Lake Weir Hurricanes were unable to scratch across their first win over the Knights as Lake Weir fell in a 12-0 loss.
The North Marion Colts (18-6) captured their fourth consecutive district title on Thursday night, beating second-seeded Umatilla (15-12) in a gritty, 3-2 win.
As the No. 1 seed in District 6-3A, the Colts first beat No. 4 seed North Atlantic by a score of 9-4 to advance into the championship game.
With the district championship in hand, North Marion has locked up a spot in the Class 3A playoffs.
The St. John Saints (16-10) found themselves in the District 6-1A championship game as the No. 2 seed after beating No. 3 seed First Academy 6-1 in the semifinals on Tuesday night.
Following the win, the Saints ran into a buzzsaw in top-seeded Mount Dora Christian (21-5), which beat St. John 12-0 in Thursday's title game.
Earning a first-round bye as the top seed in District 4-2A, Trinity Catholic (21-5) advanced to the championship game with ease as it beat Keystone Heights 11-1 in Wednesday's semifinal.
On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Newberry (18-7) did the same, beating PK Yonge 11-1 to set up a date with the Celtics.
In Friday night's district championship, Trinity Catholic held on for a 9-7 win over Newberry to help the Celtics secure a spot in the FHSAA playoffs.
Playing in a district full of Marion County teams, Vanguard (17-7) got to see a handful of familiar faces en route to its title win.
As the top seed in District 5-4A, the Knights first took care of business against Lake Weir in a 12-0 win. Vanguard followed that up with downing Dunnellon 8-3 in the title game in what was the fourth meeting between the Knights and Tigers.
Vanguard locked up a spot in the FHSAA playoffs with its district title win.
