Caleb Bonemer hit a first-inning homer to lead Winston-Salem to a 4â3 victory. Meanwhile, Nashville Sounds defeated Charlotte Knights 5â1 with a strong performance from Duncan Davitt and a three-run homer from Jeferson Quero.

Nashville Sounds 5, Charlotte Knights 1
Duncan Davitt held it down for four frames, surrendering very little. A pair of doubles, a wild pitch, and a walk â but nothing that broke. Nashville scratched and clawed, and Davitt kept wriggling free. Ben Peoples followed and tossed two scoreless, hitless innings, and then the seventh showed up.
With one swing, Luis Lara cracked the stalemate, launching a solo shot to right center off Wikelman GonzĂĄlez, and just like that, the Sounds had life. It didnât stop there. Three singles, a walk, and suddenly the inning turned into a slow bleed. By the time it ended, Charlotte (9-12) now trailed 2-0, and the margin for error was gone.
If there was still an open window, the eighth slammed it shut. Enter Tyson Miller, and exit any hope. A double, a walk, and then Jeferson Quero unloaded a three-run bomb to center.
The Knights finally answered in the bottom half, with Jacob Gonzalez launching a solo shot, which was more of a pulse than a comeback, but that was as close as it got.

A couple of glimmers are that Peoples has a 0.00 ERA in twelve innings over eight appearances out of the pen, and Ryan Galanie chipped in with a double. But the real story this afternoon was missed chances, again, as Charlotte was 0-for-10 with RISP. They had plenty of traffic, but nothing to show for it.
Birmingham Barons 8, Columbus Clingstones 5 Before the Barons could even settle in, Columbus got on the board first with a triple, a walk, and then a three-run shot to left center. Just like that, it was 3-0, and Birmingham was staring uphill.

The second inning got the ball rolling as the Birmingham offense woke up. A single, a double, some traffic, and Samuel Zavala cleared the bases with a two-run two-bagger, wiping the slate clean. Braden Montgomery contributed with a sacrifice fly to push the Barons ahead 4-3.
Birmingham didnât stop there. In the third, Jeral Perez went deep, and a few batters later, Adam Fogel followed with a two-run blast. Suddenly, it was 7-3 Barons, and a four-run deficit turned into a four-run cushion.
Columbus did put up a few more tallies, including a two-run homer in the seventh that made it 7-5. But the Barons had the last word. Perez came through again with an RBI double to tack on an insurance run. It was a win that started ugly, but ended up an 8-5 cruise with the Barons in the driverâs seat.

Winston-Salem Dash 4, Hub City Spartanburgers 3
Right out of the gate, the Dash didnât bother easing into this one. Caleb Bonemer and Colby Shelton went back-to-back with two-out homers in the first. Just like that, Winston-Salem had a 2-0 lead before most of the fans had even settled into their seats.
From there, it was a grind. There was traffic on both sides, but no tallies. Hub City loaded the bases in the first, but starter David Sandlin worked out of the jam. The Dash put runners on and mostly did the same. It was a whole lot of almost, as they were only 1-for-8 with RISP.
However, in the fifth, they were able to tack on a few more with a couple of walks and singles. Anthony DePino was the big bat that came through with a two-run knock to push it to 4-0.
But, of course, it didnât stay comfortable as the Spartanburgers started chipping away with a solo shot in the sixth. Then he did it again in the eighth, because why not? Suddenly, it was 4-2, and Hub City had life.
The ninth made it properly tense. A walk, a couple singles, a run in, and the tying run creeping closer. But with everything wobbling, the Dash got exactly what they needed â a ground ball and a clean double play to end the threat.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 8, Charleston RiverDogs 7
For eight innings, this one felt over. Kannapolis surrendered a run in the first, another in the third, then a two-run sixth that stretched the deficit to 4-0. A sac fly in the seventh made it 5-1, and by the time the ninth inning rolled around, Charleston added on again with a two-run single, making it 7-1.
The Ballersâ comeback started quietly enough with a solo shot from Abraham NĂșñez in the bottom of the sixth. Then, the real fireworks began in the ninth with a single from Stiven Flores, a double from Matthew Boughton, and a base hit by Arxy HernĂĄndez that pushed a couple of runs across, closing the gap to 7-3.
The momentum was all Kannapolis. A walk and back-to-back singles loaded the bases. NĂșñez ripped a two-run single to make it 7-5. However, there were two outs, and just one swing away from it all ending. But Billy Carlson kept the line moving with a base hit, packing the sacks again.
Flores came up big, lining a single to right to tie it at 7-7, capping a six-run avalanche that felt like it came out of nowhere. And before Charleston could even reset, a wild pitch pushed the winning run to third.
Moments later, Javier Mogollon punched a ball into left, and just like that â ballgame. An 8-7 walk-off that had no business happening, but weâll take it.
