He has produced an OPS close to 1.000 and is generating elite contact, with exit velocities and hard-hit rates ranking among the very best in the league.
What stands out most is how pitchers have tried to approach him. Early scouting suggested he might struggle against high velocity, which has led many teams to challenge him in the strike zone.
When Murakami gets a pitch in the zone, he is punishing it. His ability to avoid chasing bad pitches while still generating elite power has forced opponents into a difficult position.
There is a tradeoff, though. His game comes with strikeouts, but it has not slowed the impact. Between walks, home runs, and patience at the plate, he continues to create pressure every time he steps in.
At this rate, this is no longer just a hot streak. It is a statement. Murakami is not easing into MLB; he is reshaping expectations for what a rookie slugger can look like.
