The Chicago White Sox are 13-17 on the season, and only two games back of the top spot in the American League Central.
With Munetaka Murakami playing incredibly well for the White Sox so far, there is a big more reason to tune in this season. However, the team got some tough injury news on Everson Pereira, who was off to a solid start to the season in 2026.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, with Pereria landing on the injured list, the White Sox will be calling up a former New York Mets and Seattle Mariners top prospect bust in Jarred Kelenic for another chance in the Majors.
"Former prized outfield prospect Jarred Kelenic, 26, makes his return to the big leagues with the Chicago White Sox," Nightengale reports. "He replaced OF Everson Pereira, who is placed on the IL."
This is some tough news for the White Sox, as Pereira had a .763 OPS on the season so far with three homers in 19 games played. While he wasn't an everyday player, he was still playing well for Chicago.
Taking his place is Kelenic, a former top prospect who never panned out in the Major Leagues. He is still 26 years old, so he might be able to showcase some of the skills that made him a top prospect before his debut in 2021.

He played well in 2023, with a 2.1 bWAR season across 105 games with 11 homers, 25 doubles, and a .746 OPS on the year.
But, overall for his career, he has a .658 OPS and a 0.2 bWAR total across 407 games with the Mariners and Atlanta Braves the last five years.
Now with the White Sox, Kelenic will get another chance in the big leagues, joining a roster that needs some extra outfielder depth after losing Pereira.
Kelenic might not play a lot for the White Sox, but he should get some run and a chance to make his mark in the Majors once more after posting -0.5 bWAR with a .531 OPS in 24 games for the Braves last year.
