New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was placed on the 10-day injured list a few days ago for a low-grade calf strain.
Stanton exited Friday's game against the Houston Astros after experiencing tightness while running the bases. The Yankees are optimistic he won't require a lengthy absence.
For now, Stanton's place on the roster goes to utility man Max Schuemann, who has yet to make his Yankees debut despite spending spring training with the AL East club.
Schuemann, 28, is a jack-of-all-trades defender who spent each of the past two seasons with the Athletics. In 2025, the right-handed hitter slashed .197/.295/.273 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 213 trips to the plate.
A trade in February sent Schuemann to the Yankees in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Luis Burgos.
