The Taunton Daily Gazette has opened voting for the High School Girls Athlete of the Week for May 4-10. Polls are open until noon on May 17, allowing fans to select their favorite athlete.
Another week of the spring high school sports season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.
Last week, Taunton softball came out on top in a back-and-forth Hockomock Kelley-Rex and MIAA Division 1 clash with Attleboro while a pair of Taunton throwers took home top spots at the Weston Twilight Invitational. Dighton-Rehoboth lacrosse scored its biggest-ever win over rivals Somerset Berkley and first win in its first game ever against fellow SCC foes Case while a Bristol-Plymouth lacrosse player reached a career milestone with a double digit goal total against Bristol Aggie. Bristol Aggie softball continued its Mayflower Small dominance while Bridgewater-Raynham, Bristol-Plymouth and Dighton-Rehoboth softball all scored strong wins and both Bridgewater-Raynham and Dighton-Rehoboth track and field had winners at the MSTCA Lou Tozzi Twilight Freshman Sophomore Invitational.
The Taunton Daily Gazette High School Girls Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3 is Bridgewater-Raynham softball's Maddie Morelli, receiving 57% of the vote. Bristol Aggie softball's Autumn Nicholson came in second with 36% while Taunton track and field's Max Cassinelli received 4% to finish third.

Bailey went 3-for-4 with a home run, a pair of runs and 5 RBIs against Milford.
Erlichman went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, a run and 4 RBIs against Dartmouth.
Benoit went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs, 4 runs and 6 RBIs against South Shore Tech.
Arrighi tossed all 5 innings giving up 3 unearned runs on 3 hits while striking out 12 and going 4-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI at the plate against Dennis-Yarmouth.
Ericson had 10 goals, including the 300th of her career, and 4 assists against Bristol Aggie.
Papa had 5 goals and a pair of assists against Case.
Olaniyan won the discus (130 feet 3 inches) at the Weston Twilight Invitational.
Raphino won both the high jump (4 feet 4 inches) and triple jump (33 feet 3 inches) in a tri-meet against Old Rochester and Fairhaven.
