The Taunton Daily Gazette is seeking votes for the High School Boys Athlete of the Week for April 20-26. Polls are open until noon on May 3, allowing one vote per person.
Another week of the spring high school sports season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.
Last week, Bridgewater-Raynham lacrosse scored an overtime win over Concord-Carlisle while Dighton-Rehoboth lacrosse split a pair of hard-fought close contests. Taunton baseball faced some of the toughest teams in the state, including going up against Raynham's Brody Bumila and Bishop Feehan, while Dighton-Rehoboth scored a solid non-league win over Oliver Ames. Bridgewater-Raynham track and field had a double winner at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational while Taunton and Dighton-Rehoboth track and field each had a winner at the Mercury Outdoor Games. Bristol Aggie athletes had the week off, so none will be featured in this week's poll.
The Taunton Daily Gazette High School Boys Athlete of the Week for April 13-19 is Dighton-Rehoboth volleyball’s Andrew Cabral, receiving 40% of the vote. Taunton lacrosse’s Oren Cullins came in second with 25% while Bristol Aggie baseball’s Cam Matthews received 23% to finish third.

Only players from teams that submitted stats to the Gazette or made them readily available online can be featured in this poll. Nunez tossed 3 shutout relief innings giving up a hit and a walk while also striking out 3 against Bishop Feehan.
LaPlante went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI against Old Colony.
Viveiros tossed 7 shutout innings giving up a pair of hits and a pair of walks while striking out 5 and going 2-for-4 with a run at the plate against Oliver Ames.
LaCivita made 20 saves against Concord-Carlisle.
Murphy had a pair of goals and a pair of assists against Dartmouth.
Thompson won the shot put (50 feet 0.25 inches) at the Mercury Outdoor games.
Ocampo won both the 100 meter (0:10.66, personal best) and 200 meter (0:22.44) at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational.
Gifford won the javelin (152 feet 2 inches) at the Mercury Outdoor games.
