* Correct after DC vs SRH IPL 2026 match on April 21, 2026.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently at the bottom of the IPL 2026 table due to a disastrous six-match losing streak and a league-low net run rate of -1.076.
Despite a solid start, their campaign derailed as middle-order mainstays Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran hit a simultaneous slump. A lack of batting consistency has left their strong bowling unit, led by Prince Yadav and Mohammed Shami, with too little to defend.
Meanwhile, MI are suffering from inconsistency. Their Indian superstars are not in the best of form, and they have hardly looked like a winning unit.
KKR have won three games on the trot, but they do not seem to have that aura and confidence. They look nervy and another collapse could see them end up with the wooden spoon.
If anything has been learned from IPL history, it is that no team is ever out for the count.
In 2016, RCB made the worst possible start, losing five of their first seven matches. However, they won five straight matches thereafter to qualify for the play-offs and eventually finished as runners-up.
Similarly, MI lost four of their opening five games in 2015 before pulling off a dominant run that peaked in them lifting the second of their five IPL titles.
Momentum in the IPL is delicate, and two consecutive wins may shift everything in favour of one side.
CSK and KKR themselves achieved the unthinkable in 2010 and 2014, respectively. CSK won only two of their initial seven games before winning the first of their five titles, while the three-time winners produced a nine-match winning streak during one of their successful terms.
