The Houston Astros are 15-22 on the season through May 5th, and there are a lot of things going wrong for this team.
But things just keep getting worse. Carlos Correa sustained an injury and was expected to miss a lot of time. The update just confirmed it, and it's about as bad as it can get.
According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Correa has a torn tendon in his left ankle and will miss the next 6-8 months. It's a season-ending injury for Correa, as the Astros sustain another brutal blow this year.
"Carlos Correa needs season-ending surgery on a torn tendon in his left ankle," Rome reports. "Recovery is 6-8 months, he said."
This is a brutal blow for Correa and the Astros. The veteran star infielder is now going to spend at least half a year recovering from this ankle injury.
But what makes this injury all the more confounding is how Correa sustained it. As Rome reports, Correa explained he sustained the injury during batting practice when he swung and "felt a pop" on Tuesday.

Correa will now miss the rest of the season, as his recovery will have the 31-year-old aiming for a return in early 2027.
He was hitting .279 with three homers and 16 RBIs this season across 32 games with a .787 OPS. While the Astros' offense has been elite this year, they've just lost a key slugger in Correa for the remainder of the season.
It's been a disaster this season, and another year rife with injuries. Correa is done for the season, and it's a brutal injury that happened in an unfortunate circumstance.
