The Columbus Blue Jackets won't necessarily want to split with Boone Jenner.
But with Jenner on an expiring contract and becoming a free agent this offseason, that may be what happens.
Jenner was a second-round pick of Columbus all the way back in the 2011 NHL Draft.
He has played all 808 of his career games for the Blue Jackets, scoring 212 goals and dishing out 209 assists (421 points).
Jenner will turn 33 in June, and he'll have a decision to make.

Jenner could decide he wants to chase a Stanley Cup.
The Blue Jackets could've traded him at the deadline this season but decided to go for it.
"Jenner’s situation was similar to Tuch’s: possible trade chip if his team bombed out of playoff race, must-keep as an own rental if his team stayed in playoff race. The Blue Jackets held Jenner but fell short in their push thanks to a late-season collapse," wrote Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin in a new article on Friday.

In the end, Jenner didn't get a chance that could've come to him if a trade was completed. This offseason, he'll have a chance to take matters into his own hands.
"No one has suited up for more games in a Blue Jackets jersey," Larkin writes. "It would be weird to see him in another one, but he’s through his prime years and might want to chase a championship at some point."
